Rate Of Absorbtion Of A Paper Towel

MK2 Beaubourg (Paris 3ème)

The only cinema still operating in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris will celebrate its 30th anniversary this year! It is indeed

November 6, 1981 has emerged a small complex of 3 arthouse cinemas, the "Cine-Beaubourg Les Halles", built in the basement of a shed in a new set real estate and commercial called "Quartier de l'Horloge", opposite the Centre Beaubourg.

The three rooms are located on the same level: Room 1 has 200 seats, while the other two rooms each with 100 seats.

Initially programmed independently, the "Cine-Beaubourg Les Halles" quickly joined the programming circuit UGC, because of the difficulty of access to Some movies, due to the presence nearby of many rooms of the Forum des Halles.

In 1984, two new rooms were added (100 and 200 seats), followed by a final in 1985, very small and called "Room Mini-Club" (45 seats).

In 1995, the cinema has changed hands, and fell into the hands of MK2, which renamed the institution the name of "Beaubourg July 14" and "MK2 Beaubourg" from April 29, 1998.

He had a beautiful room with 700 seats, with a balcony and a stage of 10 mx 3 m.

The artistic vocation of the place has been preserved, because nowadays it is a dance school located in the former Majestic Cinema, which has retained its beautiful volume, which we guess, behind the panels, the beautiful facade!

In 1913, the "Pathé-Palace" settled in the village hall in the town of Chalon-sur-Saone (71), which took place in 1907 in a granary.

Establishing film included 1350 seats.

By contract, he could be operated only three days a week (Thursday, Saturday and Sunday), the remaining four days being reserved for the festival committee .

It was long disputed by many café in the city, which offered them as film showings and who saw this great institution an unfair competitor because he used the services of a municipal building!

Exploitation continued anyway until 1923, or the city ceased activity in its movie hall.

This magnificent building, whose shape was reminiscent of a circus, was unfortunately destroyed in 1968 and replaced by a parking lot ...

Death Watch Chapter Review

MK2 Odeon (Paris 6th)

At its inception in May 1971, film, called "Paramount-Odeon" did not contain a single room with 300 seats. It was then

Built to the deceased "Drugstore Publicis-Odeon, which was part of a chain of shopping malls, so fashionable in the 60s and 70s.

A step occurs in 1980 when the firm buys ExpenseComp the mall and turn it into four cinemas (225, 114 and 100 and 80 seats) that come naturally be added to the existing hall, which retains its handsome volume.

Thus was born a new complex, covering a time the name "Paramount City-Odeon" (like the Paramount City Triomphe on the Champs-Elysees before returning ...), simply " Paramount-Odeon.

This complex struggling to find its audience because it offers mainstream movies and B movies in French, a heresy to the Latin Quarter!

In February 1986, thanks to the bankruptcy of ExpenseComp, the film switches into the lap of Marin Karmitz, who renamed it "July 14-Odeon," and returns the lineup, although still oriented public, but in hard original, which suits him better!

Front in 1994, at the time of July 14-Odeon ...

New facade, beginning 1998, shortly before the name change ...

April 29, 1998, like the other rooms of the circuit, Jul. 14, Odeon was renamed to the new identity "MK2 Odeon.

Ideally located on the Boulevard Saint-Germain, MK2 Odeon continues to attract a large audience: it is not unusual to see long queues on Saturday evening or Sunday afternoon!

Note that on the facade are the posters of films screened at the MK2 Hautefeuille neighbor, offering programming more "sharp" than the MK2 Odeon ...

Parnassiens 3 (Paris 14th)

In this building, which now houses a supermarket, was the little brother of film "7 Parnassiens" .

Called "3 Parnassiens", this small resort is indeed almost opposite the entrance to the mall, rue Delambre, giving access to "7 Parnassiens.

It originated in the spring of 1933, where a cinema called "Delambre" opens its doors.

This 600-seat balcony offers also shows.

At the end of 1933, the cinema changed ownership and became for a short time the "Dome-Studio BGK" before resuming its former name.

In the first half of the 70s, "Delambre" converted to pornographic films, perhaps because of its geographical proximity to the Rue de la Gaite located a few hundred meters ...

The kind then being in vogue, the film becomes the "Delambre Montparnasse," and is divided into three rooms in 1977 (260, 100 and 80 seats) to meet growing demand and especially with the explosion of production porn movies!

With the arrival of the 80's is changing the pornographic film begins not to make recipe, and it was in 1983 that the property is fully renovated and became the small complex "3 Parnassiens", an annex to its big brother, born five years earlier.

Note that, curiously, both on the facade on the entrance fee is the name "Parnassiens-Delambre" contained therein, while in all the newspapers and it was good programs listed as "3 Parnassiens !

This complex had a beautiful room well equipped with 260 seats, and two small rooms 120 and 100 seats, the room No. 2 had the inconvenience of being reversed slope ...

Alas, his life will be rather brief, because it's May 16, 1989 that the film "3 Parnassiens" permanently cease its activities and will become a supermarket ...

Cinematograph (Nantes - 44)

Behind this facade lies a strange cinemas most interesting Nantes!

March 18, 1908, the American Cosmograph "opens its doors in the former Carmelite Chapel dating from the early seventeenth century, instead of a mechanical engineering workshop!

The building in the early twentieth century before its transformation into a film - Picture Royalty free (public domain)

At its inception, the room has the distinction of being devoid of screen, projection taking place on the wall!

For many years, the American Cosmograph "is one of the most popular theaters in the city of Nantes, which has numerous facilities in operation.

In 1955 the cinema was renamed the "Celtic".

Despite the slow but inexorable alienation of the 60s and 70s, the "Celtic" continues to remain active until July 15, 1980, when it must close its doors, despite the cons-based programming Arab films and India since 1978 with a loyal customer immigrant ...

closure is only temporary, because the hall reopens its doors November 23, 1983, under the current name of "Cinematograph".

he specialized in art films and testing and research including many programming cycles and retrospectives.

Unfortunately, the room closes its doors again in 1995 ...

But history repeats itself for the "Cinematograph" certainly born under a lucky star, since 2001 the municipality entrusts the management of the cinema-Nantes Film Association, which is designed to provide complementary programming to those Nantes and other rooms to make it accessible to as many people through programming and pricing tailored.

Ten years later, "Cinematograph" is still standing with its beautiful single room with a balcony, and intends to stay as long as possible!

Gaumont-side Miramar Parnassus (Paris 14th)

The current cover, under the banner of the Gaumont-Parnassus

It looks great this movie septuagenarian, ideally situated on a very busy artery of the Montparnasse district , with its beautiful marble canopy and stately hall! The

Miramar opened in November 1938 on the site of a former brewery.

was at that time a one-room facility with 1000 seats, with balcony, situated in a neighborhood badly famed and frequented by wildlife underworld as was often use around the railway stations ...

the mid-'60s, the local cinema hall is converted back into first-run.

In 1972, the single room is divided into two rooms: one room for 550 cars at the site of the old orchestra, and a second with 350 seats in the old balcony.

In 1980 a third room is created without modifying existing two beautiful rooms, location of a former apartment. Not much interest in terms of comfort, it's a room full length of 100 seats, equipped with a rear projection system.

The facade 1993

long specialized in films in French public, the Miramar has now directed to the original version.

The facade in 1996

Before being acquired by Gaumont in early 2010, he was part of the circuit Rytmann , very much in Montparnasse ( Britain , Montparnasse-Bienvenue , Montparnos ) and who also owned the Mistral to Alesia.

It was renamed for a long name that suits him badly (a specialty of the house unfortunately !)...

Today, this complex of three rooms represents 1/7th of the mega-multiplex "Gaumont-Parnassus," which has absorbed in passing the "Montparnos" and "Montparnasse-Bienvenue", whose survival seems hypothetical!
